Wake up early – The secret to surviving between deadlines and procrastination

Wake up early – The secret to surviving between deadlines and procrastination

It is a fact that freelancers do not have a time clock, but always live with a countdown clock. Deadlines are always present as an “invisible manager”, both pressing and making each day pass in a sense of in-between: enough to do, but also enough to procrastinate.

The morning is the golden time that has not been disturbed

And then, there is a small but effective turning point: waking up early.

It does not have to be too ideal with 5 am or follow some strict regime, just a little earlier than usual. When the city is still quiet, social networks have not bothered, messages have not been pouring in - that is when the mind is “freed” from distractions. An hour in the morning can be more effective than three hours in the evening simply because it is not divided by trivial things.

Take the initiative to avoid being cornered by deadlines

The morning not only brings time, but also brings a sense of initiative. Starting work before the deadline is right behind you is a great way to feel more relaxed. Instead of letting work pile up at the end of the day and ending it with a sigh, waking up early helps you maintain a steady rhythm and a sense of control.

Waking up early is a small choice, big impact

Nobody is forcing freelancers to wake up early. But if you’re feeling stuck between work pressure and procrastination, trying to change your circadian rhythm a little is a way to unlock your initiative – an intangible but extremely valuable asset in freelancing.

The deadline is still the same, the work still needs to be done. But if you start a little earlier, maybe everything will be much easier.
